Jessica Cassone represented the Junior League of South Brevard at Tuesday's Brevard County Commission meeting where Commissioner Curt Smith recognized the JLSB for 50 years of service to the community.
Whereas, The Junior League of South Brevard is a group of over 200 dynamic women dedicated to improving the health of children through nutrition and physical activity by means of trained volunteers, financial support, and community awareness and partnerships, which has been a driving force in the South Brevard community since 1966; and
Whereas, the mission of the Junior League is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers; and
Whereas, The Junior League of South Brevard is also part of a larger organization, the Association of Junior Leagues International, which means our network of influence includes 150,000 women in 291 Junior Leagues in four countries: the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom; and
Whereas, The Junior League of South Brevard sponsors, develops, manages and supports projects with community partners in areas where needs are unmet and existing resources are minimal; and
Whereas, taking action in support of community needs is a key characteristic of the Junior League of South Brevard. Over the course of the past 50 years, the members of the Junior League have advocated on behalf of critical issues such as brining art, instrument instruction and history education to Brevard schools, aid to physically handicapped children, drug education and prevention, literacy, domestic violence and parenting education to name a few; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, does hereby recognize and congratulate
THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SOUTH BREVARD ON 50 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
and commends all those who have devoted time and effort toward its success.
